Jô Jutsu ist die Antwort / is the answer

Lasst uns anpassen, lasst uns weitermachen.

ENG:

After we have returned to train in the dojo since yesterday, the question was: What are we doing thematically?

In my opinion there are always two sides to learning this kind of Budo, namely with Taijutsu and with weapons. Taijutsu is the basis and training with Bokuto, Hanbo, Jo, Bo and so on and the weapons are the magnifying glass with which one can observe, deepen and correct one’s own understanding of Taijutsu.

COVID19/Corona forces us to adapt, because everything else is a shutdown. In my opinion adapting means to adapt to the circumstances (as simple as it may sound) and not to look for ultima ratio.

For our training this means that we will continue to train indoors, pay attention to the hygiene concepts and focus on long(er) ranged weapons. There is not only Bo, but also other tools to train with.

I once heard from a former member that training doesn’t make sense if you there is no contact training by having to keep distance and can’t learn in the way you are used to. This is ok, because in my opinion the understanding of this martial art (what it teaches, what you can deduct from it, adapting and approaching it from another perspective) has not been understood and thus will not be understood.

Let’s adapt, let’s continue.
